the National Aviary, PittsburghIf you live in or near Pittsburgh or southwest PA, and you haven’t yet visited the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, you don’t know what you are missing. This is a very cool place to spend an afternoon, for adults and kids. The National Aviary is located on the North Side and admission is very reasonable. Here’s a few words from their web site:

The National Aviary is America’s bird zoo. Located on Pittsburgh’s
historic North Side, the National Aviary’s diverse collection comprises
more than 600 birds from around the world, many of them threatened
or endangered in the wild. The National Aviary’s large walk-through
exhibits create an experience unlike any other – an intimate interaction
between visitors and free-flying birds, including opportunities to hand-feed
and meet many species rarely found in zoos anywhere else in the
world.
